Convener Address
Greetings to all our brothers, sisters and well wishers of Telugu Community in Oman
Let me take this opportunity to thank all for keeping faith in me and giving me an opportunity for leading the community for the last 8 years.
When Anil kumar garu and I stepped into committee as Convenor & Co- Convenor, seven years ago in 2014 a major responsibility is continuation of the legacy left by prominent leaders who strived a lot for changing a small group formed in 1985 into to a major organization under Indian Social Club Oman. It’s high time to thank past Convenors of Teluguwing Sri. Ravi Sai garu, Sri. Ram Dhanvanthari garu, Sri. Rangaiah garu, and Sri. P.J.Mani garu and Anil Kumar garu and the committee members during their tenure who strived in keeping the tradition and language Intact.
During Eight years of tenure we could able to transform Telugu wing not just as a cultural association but also as a versatile organization which engaged enthusiastically into various educational and social service activities.
From the commencement of Ugadi Celebrations with traditional cultural activities like Panchanga sravanam, Kavi Samelanan, etc., and of course with a sumptuous vindu , there is no looking back with Mega Programs like Muscat Madhurimalu , Swara Madhuri, Swara Lahari , Swara Varadhi, Nrutya Sammelanam. During this Mega Programs, we had an opportunity to felicitate the stalwarts and Eminent Scholars like Padmasri Sri. Sirivenella Sitarama Sastry garu, Smt.S.P.Sailaja garu, Sri.Garikapati Narasimha Rao garu and Shri Goreti venkanna garu and encouraged almost all the contemporary playback singers and upcoming artists.
We always strived in search of talent and give them a Telugu Community, Oman as platform to showcase their talents and also supported the economically backward artists like Smt.Baby garu, Surabhi Nataka Academy etc..
Telugu Kala Samithi, Oman promoted Patasala ( Telugu classes) from where it commenced , into a fullfledged classroom session activities with the help of enthusiastic and dynamic teachers of our community who volunteered on their own to serve our community. We also initiated Youth leadership programs(YLP) of Toast Master International with eminent toastmasters of our community with a grand success. It inspired the whole team to leap forward and established Mana TKS Toastmasters for Elders and Yuva TKS Toast Masters Gavel Club for the youth specially designed for our telugu community. Telugu Kala Samithi, Oman commenced our activities for charity by giving RO 1000/- to Indian Social club, Charity wing which is a first of its gesture by any association. Telugu Kala Samithi, Oman received a special appreciation from then His Excellency Indra Mani Pandey, Indian Ambassador to Sultanate of Oman for the contributions made in support of the social service extended to indian community in Oman during panademic times.
Covid-19 panademic challenges are very demanding in keeping the activities as well serving the needful. I am proud to say our Telugu Community team achieve this by distributing food and basic requirements to the needful, sending the stranded employees & their families to home land by Vande Bharat Mission with the support of Parent body ISC , Indian Embassy of Oman and APNRT ( Andhra Pradesh Non Resident Telugu Society).
We took this as an opportunity and increased our connectivity during this pandemic and closely worked with TANA , South African and Singapore Associations and also firm up as a team with our Gulf Associations to conduct various online programs to reach out our Telugu Community of Oman and Worldwide.
I thank each and every member of my team during my seven year of tenure without which we may not be able to achieve many tasks, and overcome so many hurdles during turbulent periods with a mantra “Be United, Respect everyone and serve with Humility” in all circumstances.
Our motto: Serve with Humility by Giving The Best to Community.
